Frequently Asked Questions
I’ve never done therapy before…what should I expect?
There is no need to be nervous about counseling! Sessions are warm, conversational, and focused on your needs. Therapy is an interactive experience in which you discuss your goals and difficulties, and I provide feedback, tools, education and new skills.
Why don’t you take insurance?
Insurance companies require me to provide a mental health diagnosis code for reimbursement, and many people do not want a mental health diagnosis to become part of their permanent medical record. Often insurance companies require copies of session notes to justify payment on a claim, and I would rather protect your privacy then share these notes. Furthermore, insurance companies can determine the length and number of sessions you are entitled to, and I would rather make a treatment plan between us without outside influence.
What type of sessions do you offer?
I prefer to see clients in-person, in my Boulder office. Once we have established a relationship, Telehealth options can be discussed.
Do you see clients in the evenings or on weekends?
I am currently seeing clients on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I do see clients in the evenings.
